It’s really interesting to read this, I work at BitterSweet Partnership in the UK, which has recently been set up because the UK beer industry has traditionally ignored women. We’re dealing with the ‘bro fest’ of beer culture you talk about.

We’re looking at changing everything from the drinking environment, to barriers and myths that prevent women from drinking beer (we polled over 2,000 women and found out that a third of women in the UK enjoy drinking beer, but feel too uncomfortable and embarrassed to order it outside of music or sporting events) As you mention, advertising is also a big issue –almost half the women we spoke to think its needs to change to make beer more appealing to them.

Most importantly we’ll be finding out what it is women want from beer. As a beer lover who has worked in the beer industry for over 15 years I’m really pleased and proud to be involved with this, and it’s great to read this post.

Our website is at www.bittersweetpartnership.com – we’d really love to know what you think.

Cheers

Kristy
